HALL STAFF
Karla Diaz
Rector

Karla was born in Nicaragua and raised in the sunshine state of Florida. Karla served for eight years in different ministries in her local parish, Saint John Bosco Catholic Church. During this time of service, Karla fell in love with serving others and became interested in pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Theology. She graduated from Barry University with a theology degree. At Barry, Karla worked as a clerical assistant in Campus Ministry and co-founded the university's Dominican Young Adults chapter. Before entering her graduate studies, Karla worked for the Archdiocese of Miami. In May 2022, Karla graduated with a Master of Divinity from the University of Notre Dame. During her time at Notre Dame, Karla served as a co-leader in Saint Adalbert Catholic Church’s RCIA program for Spanish speakers. She assisted the Director of the Hispanic Ministry in the Fort Wayne-South Bend dioceses. Karla also served as a sacristan in the Malloy chapel, worked as an online course assistant for the Camino program, and as an Assistant Rector in Cavanaugh Hall. Karla enjoys watching Kdramas, 90’s rom-com movies, and listening to 90’s Hip-pop, and R&B music. She enjoys a good burger, sharing life with the Lyons residents, and a good laugh.

Hi everyone! My name is Kathleen, and I’m from Pittsburgh (the greatest city in the world!). I’m majoring in Philosophy and Theology, and I have a minor in Constitutional Studies. I am the seventh of ten siblings and I have six little nieces and nephews who I love to play with when I’m home. On campus, I love to spend time sitting with Our Lord in the Lyons Chapel, running around the lakes, hanging out with friends, or just reading a book in my room. This past semester, I studied abroad in Rome, but I am super excited to be back in Lyons for my senior year!
Hey!! My name is Karlee, and I’m from Danville, IN (so much love for the Midwest). I’m studying Biochemistry with minors in Global Health and Health, Humanities, and Society. I have two nephews and two nieces, and I’m currently teaching them how to say “Go Irish!”. I love running around campus, watching classic 2000s rom-coms, singing in the car with friends (Old Dominion is always a great choice), and having late night talks in Lyons. I love Lyons for its Arch, view of the lake, beautiful chapel, and community! I'm so excited for this year and to share in the love that makes this place so special!
Hi everyone! My name is Jackie, I’m originally from Oklahoma City, OK (Boomer Sooner :)), and I’m studying Theology and Economics with a minor in Constitutional Studies! While I only have one older brother, I have seven little cousins under eight and they are just the sweetest! I love playing volleyball in my free time, praying in our beautiful Lyons chapel (best one on campus!), playing Catan and really any competitive board game, leaving my friends little PostIt notes (keep an eye out next year!) and I always love a good late night hallway chat. I’m beyond excited for this coming year in Lyons
and look forward to meeting you all so soon!!

Hey Lyonites! My name is Jalisa, and I’m from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I’m currently studying Sociology with a minor in Africana Studies. I come from a big family. I’m the fifth of nine siblings, with four brothers and four sisters. During my free time, I love crafting, binge-watching shows, and spending time with my family and friends. Last semester, I had an amazing opportunity to study abroad in Kigali, Rwanda, which was an unforgettable experience. My favorite thing about Lyons is the strong sense of community—it definitely makes up for not having an elevator or AC! I’m beyond excited to give back and serve as an RA for Lyons Hall next school year. I can’t wait to meet everyone around the dorm and see what’s in store for us!
Hi everyone! My name is Jenna and I'm originally from Amman, Jordan (my favorite place ever!) Though I've switched majors more times than I can count, I have finally made up my mind and am double majoring in Accounting and Economics. I love playing the piano in our beautiful chapel, making smoothies, watching How I Met Your Mother, and going to sports games. When I'm not in Lyons (aka the best dorm on campus), you can usually find me working at the Law Library, at the gym in Duncan, or going on a lake walk/run. I'm so beyond excited to serve our amazing community as an RA next year and can't wait to share the Lyons Love with everyone <3 PS: feel free to reach out for travel advice if you're planning a trip to Jordan or anywhere else in the Middle East :)
Hey! My name is Anna, and I'm originally from Louisville, KY. At Notre Dame, I’m an Accounting major in the Business Honors Program with a Spanish supplemental major and a Business and the Common Good minor. This past semester I had the amazing opportunity to study abroad in Toledo, Spain, but I'm super excited to return to my home on campus! I love walking and running around the lakes, traveling, listening to Noah Kahan and Disney music, and starting every week off right with
Bagel Monday. I'm thrilled to be an
RA and can't wait to spread the Lyons love this year!
